OCR: Acquiring bank Issuing bank AT&T Wont Partners frame relay network (SOP) Figure 2. A MasterCard transaction begins when a card Is swiped through a merchant's Point of Sale (POS) device, which is provided by a third-party network. From the PoS, the transaction is sent to the merchant's bank (acquiring bank), where it enters Banknet through a MasterCard Interface Processor (MIP). The MIP builds an electronic packet and sends the transaction into the network where it is routed to the MIP at the bank that issued the card. The issuing bank's MIP opens the packet and sends the request for authorization to the bank's host, where the customer's account information is held. The transaction Is either approved or denied, and then the data follows the same path in reverse back to the merchant's Pos.
